Hen Jen said...: oh Cyndi, I am laughing so hard. laughing, and wincing..it's kind of true in some ways, or at least many days it starts looking true if we don't stop and make some extra effort. I do bring out the gold star stickers for my youngest (funny how they love that!) but I am seriously thinking of throwing my abeka phonics out the window..I just can't do it for the third time, it is so much effort. Anyone know of a simple, no bells and whistles phonics program??

Cyndi said...: We had great success with Phonics Pathways (SO simple to use) along with BOB books. Jessie Wise has that new book, Ordinary Parent's Guide to Teaching Reading that I'd take a look at if I had to do it again. (I can't imagine it being too bell or whistle laden.)

You know, they say stop using a certain curriculum if it makes your child cry... what if it makes the mom cry? LOL; 7:10 PM
